COVID-19 Update from LCHPS Board
Updated: Mar 26
With the growing concern of COVID-19, the LCHPS Board would like to take this opportunity to share with you what we are doing to support our local health officials while prioritizing the health and wellness of our staff, volunteers and community.
Currently, the LCHPS team is practicing social distancing by continuing operations remotely. The LC Resource Centre will not be open until further notice, however, we are available by phone or e-mail to answer your inquiries and provide ongoing community support. LCHPS Programs that are currently on hold until further notice includes Active Agers, Better at Home, Friendly Visiting, Caregiver Support Group and Substance Use Support Group. Our annual fundraiser which supports our day-to-day operations - Conquer the Lake/ LC Health Fair - planned for June 6 has also been cancelled.
We are encouraging all community members to follow the guidance of the Government of Canada and our local health authority to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Practice social distancing and stay home wherever possible
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
When coughing or sneezing:
Cover your mouth and nose with your arm or tissues
Immediately dispose of any tissues you have used into the garbage and wash your hands afterwards
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, especially with unwashed hands
Do not share food, drinks, utensils, etc.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
Self-monitor for flu-like symptoms using the BC self-assessment tool https://covid19.thrive.health/
If you experience symptoms, notify your local health authority or call the COVID-19 Hotline at 1-833-784-4397 and isolate yourself immediately.
We recognize the importance of and will continue to provide, critical care services for our more vulnerable population through this difficult time. We encourage you to connect with our team if you would like to volunteer your services.
As your community partner in health and wellness, we are taking COVID-19 very seriously and strongly encourage you to do so as well. As the situation evolves, we will continue to keep you informed.
