New provincial covid-19 restrictions

Updated November 20, 2020

As British Columbia continues to see increased covid-19 numbers, it is imperative that we all do what we can to stay healthy and safe. This week, the provincial government and the province’s chief medical officer announced new temporary restrictions. They include:

Masks

Masks are now mandatory in all indoor public spaces including stores. This is a new order under the BC Emergency’s Act and is enforceable. The mandatory mask order includes common areas in such as elevators, corridors and lobbies. Masks are also mandatory in restaurants while traveling to the bathroom or to and from your table. This order does not apply to children under the age of two, or for people with disabilities of other medical restrictions.

Social gatherings

There will be no socializing indoors outside of immediate family members, of any size, for the next two weeks. However, medial meetings, including support groups, are allowed to continue. This means that the Lake Country Health will continue to offer critical social services like the Caregiver Support Group. If the status of medical meetings changes, Lake Country Health will advise participants immediately and support services will be offered remotely.

Fitness classes

High-intensity fitness classes are now banned; however, other types of fitness classes may continue under advanced safety guidelines. Participants in the Active Agers fitness classes have been contacted about continuing the classes and, unless indicated otherwise, these fitness classes will continue as scheduled. Please remember to bring your own mask, and if you do not have one, Lake Country Health can supply one.

While we are in a difficult and uncertain time, the health and wellness of our community remains a priority for staff at Lake Country Health and we will continue to provide social supports and services to our community under all provincial health guidelines. The services will continue will include meal delivery, medical appointment transportation services and other support services as needed.

Thank you for your continued support and please do not hesitate to contact us at info@lchps.com or at 778-215-5247.

Sincerely,

Melissa Scaman Executive Director, Lake Country Health
